Victory: FIBA reverses its ban on turbans during basketball matches

Sikh players can now wear their turbans while playing official basketball matches. 65,000 Indian supporters made the International Basketball Federation scrap its discriminatory ban on wearing headgear.

Manjit Singh’s message:

FIBA’s discriminatory rule has been changed because of you. We won! The International Basketball Federation - FIBA, announced that they will allow basket ball players to play with their turbans or other religious headgear on. FIBA bowed to our sustained pressure and has lifted the ban entirely in International 3X3 games. National federations can now allow their players to play with headgear. I thought FIBA was too big an International organisation to pay attention to us. With the help of 65,000 Indian supporter we brought about this change. Thank you and congratulations!
